CVS finally released a “CVS Corporate Coupon Policy!  Print this off and place in your  coupon binder in case you run in to any issues while shopping.

Here’s is what it says:

The use of ExtraBucks®, CVS/pharmacy and third-party manufacturer coupons is accepted in our retail stores in accordance with the following guidelines.

General guidelines to further understand the application of CVS/pharmacy coupons (ExtraBucks and ExtraCare® Coupons) and third-party manufacturer coupons:

  • CVS/pharmacy does not accept expired coupons.

  • The total value of the coupons may not exceed the value of the transaction.

  • Certain CVS/pharmacy coupons may be subject to state sales tax rules similar to third-party manufacturer coupons and sales tax may be charged on pre-coupon price
  • Third-party manufacturer coupons are coupons issued by a third party and sales tax may be charged on pre-coupon price.
  • Language at the bottom of CVS/pharmacy coupons provides specific coupon acceptance rules.
  • Any coupon offer not covered in these guidelines will be accepted at the discretion of CVS/pharmacy management.

Sale Items

  • CVS/pharmacy will accept manufacturer coupons for an item that is on sale.
  • CVS/pharmacy will not accept percent off coupons for sale and promotional items.
  • In the event that any item’s price is less than the value of the coupon, CVS/pharmacy will accept the coupon only to the price of the item. CVS/pharmacy does not provide cash back in exchange for any coupons.

Multiple Coupons

  • CVS/pharmacy accepts one third-party manufacturer coupon and applicable CVS/pharmacy coupon(s) for the purchase of a single item, unless prohibited by either coupon offer.
  • The number of third-party manufacturer coupons used in a transaction may not exceed the number of items in the transaction.
  • The coupon amount will be reduced if it exceeds the value of the item after other discounts or coupons are applied. (For example, a $5.00 coupon for a $4.99 item will result in a $4.99 coupon value).
  • CVS/pharmacy accepts multiple identical coupons for multiple qualifying items as long as there is sufficient stock to satisfy other customers, unless a limit is specified. Management reserves the right to limit the quantity of items purchased.
  • CVS/pharmacy reserves the right to process coupons in any order. Internet/Print at Home Coupons
  • CVS/pharmacy accepts valid internet/print at home coupons containing a barcode.
  • CVS/pharmacy will not accept reproductions or rebates.

Internet/Print at Home Coupons:

  • CVS/pharmacy accepts valid internet/print at home coupons containing a barcode.
  • CVS/pharmacy will not accept reproductions or rebates.
Now let’s Dish! What’s your take on the CVS Corporate Coupon Policy?! I’m happy that there finally is a coupon policy, but really wish they addressed the use of a Buy 1 Get 1 Free Coupon in conjunction with a Buy 1 Get 1 Free Sale.  I’ve heard from lots of Super Coupon Lady readers who have trouble with this issue at their local CVS store.

I did notice that they did not mention the buy one get one free and whether you can use two coupons on them. It seems straight forward though and seems simple to understand even for newbies. I think they should allow the overages, but Hey I’m not a CEO so What do I know.LOL I’m just a customer.:/ But I will make a copy. Now if They would price match and if they allowed overages and if they actually at my store refilled the stock by Thursday of the week. Normally 99.8 percent of the time. the items are gone before I even get to the store. One day I was there withing 15 minutes of it opening and they were out and then they said it would be refilled on Friday since the truck comes on Thursday but that has not been the case.

As a CVS employee I can answer the bogo comment. You can only use 1 coupon for a buy 1 get 1 free deal because you are only “buying” one.

My husband works for CVS and you’re right, it does depend on the cashier. Some aren’t as savy to their store policy. BOGO items always should have been 1 coupon only.

Actually, I read their coupon policy online just a few days ago and it did include verbage about BOGO. It actually said that yes, you could use two coupons as long as they two didn’t cause an overage.

What about BOGO sale and BOGO coupon? Does it still make both items free?

I’m also wondering if there is a sale for BOGO, and you have a coupon for BOGO, are they both free? I had trouble with a cashier on this because the old policy I had in my binder said that you COULD, and he said I couldn’t.
