Important Update on the $2/1 Tide Detergent Coupon + Walmart Deal!

In the Shop for FREE Post, I told you that the Tide packets at Walmart would be FREE when you use the $2/1 Tide detergent coupons from 10/30 P&G Insert (no size restriction).  I wanted to let you know that this deal will not work.  I saw that the coupon had NO Size Restriction, so it seems logical that you could use it on the travel packs.  I had NO Idea that Proctor & Gamble did not distribute these packs (who knew?!).  I wanted to apologize for any confusion this may have caused.  I am so sorry for those of you who already went to Walmart to get this deal.

Here’s what Tide wrote in the comment section on their Facebook Page:
The coupon does not have a size restriction and is valid on all Tide detergent that is distributed by Procter & Gamble. The single use packets are not distributed by P&G and therefore the store reserves the right to choose not to accept the coupon on that item. I hope this helps with any confusion.

What are you thoughts on this?!  Please let us know in the comments below!

I think this is ridiculous. Now we need to check who is producing products? Tide should be Tide, plain and simple.

So why does all of the other Tide coupons work on these travel sizes?

I was told it is up to the store if they want to allow it or not. I just used 4 at my WalMart and they accepted it with no problem but it is up to the manager’s approval

There was none available at my Walmart, however it was at Target for $0.97 and the coupon worked .

I don’t understand this as I have gotten $1 off coupons from many sources Magazines, Sunday paper including P & G and have never had a problem. Now they distribute a $2 coupon and say you can not use it because of where it gets distributed. So is the Tide in the single use packets the same formula as Tide in Btl’s? I love to go camping and always buy the single size packs as they are so convenient. I purchased 8 papers this week primarily because of the Tide coupon ( I usually buy 4). So I am disappointed ) : Next yr when I go camping I will be using Wisk which works just as good as Tide at a fraction of the price!

Did you all see where Tide wrote under a comment from someone this statement, “I’m sorry for any confusion surrounding our coupon policy. Most stores scan the bar code on the coupon which recognizes when the correct product is purchased. Since the one use packets aren’t distributed by P&G, the store may choose not to redeem the coupon. We can’t force stores to accept our coupons. Store reimbursement is then made for coupons those stores redeem.” Basically stating that if a store accepts it, they will be reimbursed for the coupon value.
