How to Pick the Perfect Pumpkin! If you are looking for that perfect pumpkin this fall, look no further. Here are the Tips & Tricks for How to Pick the Perfect Pumpkin! Make sure to check out more Fall/Halloween Crafts, Tips and Recipe HERE.

How to Pick the Perfect Pumpkin:

1) If you can, find your pumpkin at a Farm or Pumpkin Patch! Here is a list of the Best Pumpkin Patches in America.

2) Choose a pumpkin that has consistent coloring throughout, a little discoloration is ok, but a nice all over orange pumpkin is best!

TIP: Lighter colored pumpkins are normally softer, making carving easier.

3) Make sure to turn the pumpkin over and place pressure on the bottom with your thumb/fingers. If it flexes or it doesn’t feel firm then it is not fresh.

4) Check out the pumpkin’s stem, make sure it is solidly attached. If the stem is green that indicates a freshly harvested pumpkin. Make sure to Never carry your pumpkin by the stem, that’s a sure way for it to become loose and come off!

TIP: If the stem does break off you can patched back using toothpicks. Then I would suggest carving out your pumpkin from the bottom.

5) Make sure your pumpkin does not have any soft spots, mold, wrinkles or open cuts.

6) Place your pumpkin on a flat surface and make sure that it will not roll or wobble, you don’t want your beautifully carved pumpkin to roll away! 🙂

7) You don’t want to take home a pumpkin with Bugs! Make sure to check your pumpkin all over for little critters. Again if the pumpkin has holes, don’t take it home. That means it potentially has bug problems!

Now you are ready to go find that perfect pumpkin! Have fun and

happy pumpkin hunting!
