Have you ever thought about traveling alone?!! Taking a small getaway for just yourself! Because let’s face it, sometimes Mom needs a break! Here are 10 tips for traveling alone that are affordable, fun and stress free! Let us know in the comments if you’ve ever taking a Mommy-vacation ALONE?!!

Ten Tips for Traveling Alone:

1) Make sure to check out online websites for great deals on Travel like Orbitz, Priceline, Expedia!

2) Relax While You Eat – sometimes dining along in a restaurant can be intimidating! Some people will take a book or magazine to occupy their mind, catch up on emails or just relax and reflect! Remember this is YOUR TIME!!

3) Do Something You Normally Wouldn’t Do With Others – you don’t have to come to a consensus on what to do, you actually get to do whatever YOU want to do!! Whether it’s relax by the pool with a good book, be adventurous and go hang gliding or stroll leisurely through a museum! You get to choose!

4) Book Solo Friendly accommodations – I personally love to stay at a Bed and Breakfast, you get a cozy environment that I find safe and you still have your own personal space by having your own room. You may also want to try a resort, social hostel or spa location!

5) People Watch – Omygosh!! I love to people watch even when I’m not on vacation but it’s even more fun when you are vacationing alone!

6) SMILE – make sure to smile and start conversations with locals. It’s a great way to learn more about the place you are traveling to and even find some hidden gems! I once found the best coffee shop talking to a local! They always know where to find the best food and shopping!

7) Bring a Journal – Perfect for remembering your trip and even sorting out your thoughts, dreams and goals!

8) Feeling lonely – Book a group tour!! Take a bus, walking or boat tour of the town you are visiting! Instant friends!

9) Be SAFE – don’t listen to headphones while walking, be mindful of your alcohol intake and make sure to not veer off down desolate streets! Just be mindful of your surrounding and you’ll have a fabulous time!

10) Make a List of Your Emergency Contact Information – Finally, it’s always a good idea to make a list of your emergency contact information and keep it in your purse. Include family contact and even credit card information in case you lose your card!

Hope these tips help anyone traveling alone! Now what are you waiting for, grab that overnight bag, get your hubby to take care of the kiddos and head out on a Mommy Adventure!
