ALDI is a hidden gem of a grocery store! You might not be able to all your grocery shopping here, but there are some items that are a MUST!!! Your budget will thank you!

Here’s my list of Shopping at ALDI – What to BUY:

1) PRODUCE I can’t say enough what great deals you will find on fresh produce at ALDI! Lots of people always ask me how to save money on fresh foods when couponing and I always direct them to ALDI. You will find great deals on fresh produce and even organic produce.

2) Dairy & Refrigerated Items:

You will find great deals on Milk, Eggs, butter and various Cheeses (they usually have a great selection!)

3) SPICES:

Usually spices can be so much at the grocery store, but you will find a great variety for super inexpensive! This is a great way to “spice” up your cooking! 😉

4) Refrigerated Meats:

Make sure to always check the weekly fresh meat special buys first, then stock up (if it can be frozen!). Lunch meat, pepperoni, bacon!

5) Beverages:

I usually find great deals on juice, sparkling waters, juice boxes and COFFEE!! Some ALDI stores even carry Wine and liquor at a discount – I don’t live in a town that has wine at the grocery store so I don’t know much about that! I have had readers tell me they were able to score some great deals! There favorites were Sangria, Wine and knock-off Baileys! Just keep in mind this store is owned by the same company that is the home of 2-buck-chuck, Trader Joe’s!

6) Pantry Items:

Here are my favorite pantry items at ALDI: Peanut Butter, honey, oatmeal, cereal bars, pasta, flour, sugar, nuts, oil, vanilla extract! Let us know what your favorites are?!

I actually don’t shop at Aldi anymore because they make you leave a deposit for a shopping cart and I don’t carry change on me, so I never have a quarter for the deposit.

If you ask at the register, they will give you a quarter to use in the carts, and others usually pay it forward with the carts and quarters. It is very helpful.

The reason they ask for a deposit is actually so they don’t have to have the shopping cart corrals (i think) everywhere and it helps them save money so they don’t have to have people going and retrieving them which is how they have food cost so low. There are a few websites you can look at to see why they do things like this there. I’m happy, no dings in my car when I’m there 🙂

We don’t have an Aldi here. This is so helpful to read, though, because I’m always confused when we travel about what grocery stores to shop at!

I LOVE ALDI! We shopped at ALDI all the time when we lived in Germany. I haven’t seen one near me since getting to the USA and I Miss it. I want an ALDI.

Aldi has such great products. Their produce is a great price and always fresh. You can’t beat being able to buy all your groceries for a fraction of the cost as other stores.

Aldi’s is such a small store compared to the larger chain or box stores. The whole purpose of the quarter is to cut out cart pushers, and the cost of employing cart pushers…passing the savings on to us, the shoppers. I keep a quarter in my vehicle, it’s my “Aldi’s quarter”, it’s always there. I don’t have to look for it. Simple solution to a simple problem. I love Aldi’s. You bring your bags and bag your own groceries and you push your own cart. You can buy bags in store, if you wish, for a very small fee.

We’ve been shopping at Aldis for 25 plus years – when we lived in places where Aldi wasn’t near, we used to stock up on things we couldn’t live without when we visited my parents! I love that it is quick to get through the store since you don’t have to comparison shop, yet they still have enough variety (which has increased through the years) to keep things interesting. And, while coupons ARE wonderful, it’s nice not to have to deal with them while shopping here.

We shop at Aldi all the time and have for years. They have great, low prices on produce, milk, and other items. I buy most of our snacks, produce, frozen meats and ice cream there since we save money.

I’ve actually only ever seen an Aldi when I was living up in Chicago. Never went in because I preferred Jewel or Butera and they were closer, but now that I don’t have any of those stores close, I want to check out an Aldi! lol
